Is there a reception?
No, we do not have a reception. Everything is prepared so that you can check into the vacation home independently. However, upon request, we are happy to come by and show you everything, and of course also if any problems should arise. We are available by phone, and we also respond to emails very promptly.
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in: from 16:00 Uhr / 4:00 PM
Check-out: until 11:00 AM
Is early check-in or late check-out available?
If you book through our website, you can add a "late check-out" and stay one extra hour.
Early check-in is generally not offered, but you are welcome to contact us and we will check whether we can accommodate your request.
How does check-in work?
Before your arrival, you will receive a message with various information, such as directions, the name of the Mirror Cabin you will be staying in, and a code to open the door. Therefore, you do not need a key and you can drive directly to your vacation home's parking space and move in.
How does check-out work?
You don't need to do anything special, you can simply leave the vacation home. However, we would greatly appreciate it if you left it tidy. We would also be grateful if you could let us know when you are leaving.

Is there Wi-Fi in the vacation home?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available for your use. The password is provided in the vacation home.
Is there parking available?
Yes, each vacation home has its own free parking space right next to it.
Is there a charging station for electric cars?
There is no charging station at the vacation homes, but there are some in the village of Búðardalur, about a 5-minute drive away.
Is the access road easy to drive on? Even in winter?
From the turnoff of the main road No. 60, a gravel road leads to the vacation homes. It can be easily driven on with any car. However, in winter, we recommend arriving with a four-wheel-drive vehicle and winter tires. This recommendation generally applies whenever you are traveling on Iceland’s roads during winter.
Can breakfast be ordered?
No, we do not offer breakfast. There is a small supermarket in the village of Búðardalur, about a 5-minute drive away.
Are there any restaurants and cafes nearby?
The small village of Búðardalur is about a 5-minute drive away. There you'll find the restaurants Blys and Vínlandsétur, as well as the cafes Blómalindin and Dalia. Opening hours vary considerably depending on the season, and some are completely closed from autumn until the following early summer.
Where can I shop?

Vínbúðin: Alcoholic beverages
Bolli Icelandic Craft: Local handicrafts and souvenirs

Can more than two people stay in one vacation home?
The vacation homes is designed for two people, and the double bed is 160 cm wide. If you don't mind sharing it with a small child, you are welcome to do so. However, we cannot provide any additional furnishings (e.g. extra bed, chairs, etc.). For three adults or families with older children, two vacation homes must be booked. We can offer a discount on the second cabin upon request.
Can a child's bed or extra bed be booked?
No, an extra bed is not possible due to space limitations.
Can the vacation home be darkened in the summer?
Yes. The large mirrored windows have curtains, and the skylight has electric blinds that can be opened and closed with a remote control.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are generally allowed. However, please inform us if you are traveling with a pet.
Can the Northern Lights be seen?
The vacation homes are perfect for observing the Northern Lights. Thanks to the huge windows and the large skylight above the bed, you don't even have to go outside in the cold. Northern Lights can generally appear between mid-September and mid-April in darkness. You can find further information and other necessary conditions in the blog "Mystical Northern Lights."
Is it allowed to fly a drone?
It is allowed to fly a drone, as long as you limit its use to a few minutes, leave the animals undisturbed, and do not bother or film other guests.
